BADDIEZ

After joining Vill Dance Co as a member of the Bounty, I had the opportunity at the end of the season to present an independent work at the For the Vill Community Showcase. Using an array of dancers from local dance teams and some of my own students, I was able to put together BADDIEZ. This piece is what dance should be for me, FUN. We are just girls on a night out, ready to turn up. This is my first fully independent ensemble work in two years!

Stressed

After spending two years experiencing success, failures, trials, and tribulations, Stressed is a project that resonates with those feelings. No part of school prepares you for the stresses of adulthood or the responsibilities that come with it. We have been forced to survive in a society that expects 20-year-olds to be millionaires. The stress of life is real, and that is what this project is about.

Serpentess

As my debut solo for Leviathan Dance's Mother Tongue Benefit Show, I performed Serpentess. A piece about a Serpent Goddess who lures men in with her looks and kills them with her tight grasp. During the performance, the DJ put the song in 2X speed! As a dancer, you must adapt, and I DID!

Breathe

Breathe was choreographed in 2021 for a verbatim theatre project during Aisia's sophomore year in college. This piece is about the importance of mental health and never knowing what someone is truly going through. Sometimes we can feel like we are drowning in our lives, and it is important that we take a moment to breathe.

Sound Score: Breathe by Forest Blakk

Physique

Physique was created to raise awareness to the effects of body image and expectation in the dance field. The cast of Physique includes dancers and non-dancers connecting through stillness, expression, movements and video editing.  Through the use of distorted excerpts, choreography, and video editing, Aisia was able to convey weeks of research on the relationship between body and dance styles in a 10-minute screen dance that includes three different dance styles: Contemporary, Jazz & Heels.

Nuclear Family

Nuclear Family is a reflection of the normalization of trauma and abuse in BIPOC families. This piece was created for Aisia's BFA Senior Capstone Show entitled SIIX. The video shown here is a compilation of two out of the three shows where this cast performed. The music, costuming and lighting choice was all a part of Aisia's creative effort to make this piece come together.

J8URNEY

J8URNEY is a narration of the never-ending journey to self. This piece was also shown at SIIX for Aisia's senior capstone solo. During her time in undergraduate. Aisia had gone through many traumatic experiences and was unsure of where dance would take her. Despite the circumstances. Aisia pushed through and put her hurt into her dancing and choreography. The music, costuming and lighting choice was all a part of Aisia's creative effort to make this piece come together.
